  • Avoid updating since kept getting worse

    At one time no adds and now often when go to check on an alert first get an ad Included person detection option but an update to make person detection better removed the option unless have the paid service. So now have only motion detection.

    I love the Yi cameras and how easy they are to use. The app is extremely easy and helpful. Works perfectly. I have had these for a few years now and I have never had a problem.
  • They crippled the free app to sell monthly cloud subscription

    Beware! We own several of these cameras. They worked well initially, and the app was great. But then the company crippled key features, and made them only available in the cloud plan for a subscription fee. When originally purchased, the cameras worked perfectly well without a subscription. This is dishonest behavior, and I cannot recommend the company's products. The features they crippled were being able to see activity alerts in the app. To be clear, this is a critical feature, used to be free, and now they want to charge monthly for it. It is critical, because if you have 10 days of video, and very few events that occur and you care about (e.g. motion detection), you cannot find those events in the stored data without a list of these alerts that jump to the relevant times. We bought SD cards to put in each of the cameras, and the selling point of these cameras was that you could see all the recorded data on the SD cards, and the alerts — without a monthly subscription. This worked very well initially. But recently, the company started hiding the alerts in the app after 24 hours. Previously, the alerts were always visible, so you could find events from a few days ago. Perhaps this was an accidental programming error by their software team, and the company will do the right thing and fix the problem. If that turns out to be the case, I will change this review back to a 5 star review. But I have reached out to their customer support, who instead try to upsell me on the Kami cloud service for a monthly fee. Not ok company behavior!
  • Recording Issues

    Do not pay for the multiple days of recording history because the cameras do not pick up movement well. Not a reliable source for security purposes. The camera only records about 25-30 minutes of footage per hour. Extremely disappointed in the app and the cameras.
