  • The Best Recipe App

I’ve tried a number of recipe apps since I started using computers regularly in my life, and Paprika stands head and shoulders above the rest. It now has all my family recipes, recipes from my favorite food bloggers that I love, and a collection of recipes I want to try. If you’re looking for a place to keep all your recipes, just get it!

When it can download a recipe it is magic but it also can be stubborn and refuse to do so, and may do it for one recipe on same website but not another. Entering the recipe manually can be a pain, it should be side by side, allowing to highlight/select things or copy paste without having to perform additional clicks/interactions to select/save. I feel like it should be easier for non-downloadable recipes or manually typed, especially when trying to add photos/thumbnail.

I love Paprika and have been using it for years now! My favorite things about it are: ability to download online recipes, able to organize and catagorize my recipes, easy to use, beautiful interface, etc. I couldn't ask for anything more. My mom and sister-in-law use it too - it makes it easy to share recipes with each other!
  • Adequate but a weak replacement for MacGourmet Deluxe

This app is really the only choice for a recipe manager in the Mac/iOS world. But that isn’t saying much. It’s a huge downgrade from MacGourmet Deluxe, an awesome program that was abandoned by the lame company that bought out the original developers. Paprika is missing so many great features that are easy to implement. It can’t link recipes (like a sauce or spice mix that goes with a specific dish), it doesn’t let you edit the columns in the recipe display, it won’t let you delete dumb fields like “difficulty,” and there is no auto-fill on standard inputs. On the plus side, at least they have good linking between Mac and iPhone. It’s hard to recommend this app but there are no other options. Try harder!!

I’ve tried several different recipe apps and Paprika is by far the best one. It’s got an easy, usable UI for both iOS and Mac and syncs perfectly with icloud. It uses google search for web recipes, and downloads and sorts even the most complicated ones with the press of a button. Really… there is no other recipe app worth considering. Just get it.

I recently got Paprika when I discovered the recipe manager I have used for years (MacGourmet), is no longer supported by the company that created it. I was sick about it because I have hundreds of recipes, many, that I’ve written notes in, and saved. Paprika Recipe Manager 3 to the rescue! It’s almost identical to Gourmet, so my learning curve was minimal. It has all the features I need..categories, notes, Grocery lists, scaling recipes, and easily being able to import from the web. There are also Menus, meals, and pantry, but I haven’t used thoseI. It is important for my recipe manager to have a companion web version as well as that’s where I generally do my importing and note taking. The syncing feature is important as I have it on my cell and iPad. The app is great for shopping when I think of a recipe I want to cook, so I can look it up and get all the ingredients. The Browser feature is the bomb. So far, I have been able to import all the recipes that were in Gourmet…many of which, are from food bloggers. It’s also easy to send recipes to friends and family as needed, through the app. I’m very relieved to have found Paprika. 5 stars!

This is a prefectly designed app. It works and it works extremely well. It provides options for catagorizing recipes. My favorite feature is searching for recipes online and then downloading them into Paprika. It's effortless. I highly recommend this app.

You can download recipes from the internet and save them. You can select a recipe and tell the program to make a shopping list, and it will put all the ingredients on your shopping list. You can add other things to your list. You can also do meal planning for the week and save your plan. Then you can ask the program to take all the quantities of everything from all the recipes and put them on your grocery list. If the descriptions of ingredients are similar enough, it can consolidate all the chopped onions (for instance) from all the recipes into one total on your grocery list. But it won’t consolidate minced and chopped onions, but still- you can email the shopping list to a family member so they can pick things up for you, or so they can shop with you with their own copy of the list. Family sharing means everybody can have their own copies of the app and put in their own recipes, and add things to the grocery list. The only thing I wish this did was nutritional analysis/calorie count. Everything else I could ask for is here.

This is the app that my family uses to save recipes we find, track grocery lists and share food stuff we find with family. Easy to use, this is hands-down one of the most used apps on both our Mac and iPhone. Keep up the good work!
