  • Phenomenal program!!!

A very well written and engineered program, making it obvious that the people writing the program understand cooking. Now, if that would only make me a better cook! At least now I have a tool to monitor and track the information. 50 years ago, my mother started to collect recipes. In her years of traveling the world with my father on international business, she learned a lot about cooking. Back in the day you wrote on index cards or clipped articles out of newspapers. She asked if I would write her a program when she purchased her first computer. I created a program that was more rudimentary, but tracked the recipes like this one in HyperCard. We kept it running for 25 years until finally hyper card was not supported in the new operating systems. I then managed to take her thousand recipe file and upgrade it to Mac gourmet. That ran for another 10 years until finally that wasn’t supported anymore. She just recently passed away at 94 and I inherited her recipe file. I was trying to find a way of upgrading this 1455 recipes to a new program. In searching across the Internet, I discovered paprika. In about 10 seconds, it absorbed the vast treasure trove of records that she had collated for decades. The beauty of these recipe files is it not only is it a recipe but it also has notes and names and people she entertained. This is far and above the Best program that I have seen because it is well thought out well integrated and designed around how you handle information while cooking. After all my experiences in handling my mother‘s massive recipe file, I would’ve liked to believe that I could’ve written a program this well but I can’t. I’m so pleased that somebody took up the mantle and wrote this. Congratulations, thank you so much.

This app is off-the-charts. Every 5-8 years, I come across an app that changes a part of my life so thoroughly, that I fear my dependency on it. This app combines the most impressive, all-feature-inclusive recipe manager (content savvy is describing it very mildly); grocery shopping list; meal and menu-planning - all executed in such an integrated manner that I’m still falling out of my chair delving into it. All for mere dollars, one time. Cheers, mates!

This app is such a good way to keep recipes all in one place. Also, it’s awesome that it’ll just take online recipes and sort them out so it’s easy to see what ingredients you need.
  • Best recipe app

I’ve used pretty much every recipe on the App Store. This is by far the best. It has all the features you need and there is no subscription so when you pay for it, you have it. The company keeps it up-to-date and continues to add new features if you’d like a way to organize your recipes and don’t want to pay a monthly fee for an app with less features.
  • Good app but…

App is functional, but seems like something that could have been around 10+ years ago, could benefit from some updating. Would love the ability to save recipes from instagram. And the conversion feature needs a little help. Just converting to metric doesn’t cut it - I would like to be able to weight in grams. Everything I try ends up in milliliters.

I’ve been using this app for ten years. It contains not just recipes but family heirlooms. I use it as the canonical source of truth of what’s good to make and eat for family and friends.

I downloaded this an within 10 minutes of playing around I can confidently say this app is missing a lot of features. I used to use Recipe keeper and the import recipe function was extremely dynamic. You could import recipes from Instagram links, pdfs, and photos which are common ways I acquire recipes. Paprika only allows you to import from select websites. And on top of the the pictures do not automatically load into the recipe. There should also be a way to choose how you want to view your recipes - more than just alphabetically and by latest. I’d like to be able to view by category. Please make updates to the next iteration and your users will be very thankful.
