Playing Sonos radio doesn’t even work. App breaks so much the products are useless. Big thanks to Sonos for screwing up a few thousand dollars worth of hardware products I bought into
  • 80.14.07 DIDN’T FIX ANYTHING — IT MADE UPGRADING MY ARC TO ARC ULTRA MUCH WORSE FOR MY SYSTEM!!!!

I used to use my Arc with my pair of Era 300 surrounds and two Sub (Gen 3)s. I NEVER ONCE had a problem with TruePlay (except for not having an option to turn it off with your new app design, which is back for the Ultra). It always let me set my individual surround speaker distance as 2ft or less, 2ft to 10ft, and 10ft or more (even though I kept them the same, I liked having the option). AND NOW IT SOUNDS LIKE MY LEFT SURROUND IS SET TO “50 FEET OR MORE” AND MY RIGHT SURROUND IS SET TO “1 FOOT OR LESS”………..PLUS: So now I have the Arc Ultra (and besides the soundbar sounding good by itself), MY WHOLE SURROUND SYSTEM IS MESSED UP!!! I am getting MUCH MORE SOUND AND VOLUME OUT OF MY LEFT REAR SURROUND, AND CAN BARELY NOTICE THE RIGHT SURROUND SPEAKER WHEN WATCHING TV! IN ADDITION, REGARDLESS OF WHICH WIFI NETWORK I USE (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) WITH EVERY SPEAKER AND SUB IN MY SONOS SYSTEM, WHEN I SWITCH CHANNELS ON MY $5000 TV, OR START/EXIT A DVR PROGRAM (ON MY XFINITY X1 DVR CABLE BOX)….. IT MAKES A VERY LOUD DISTORTION/TEARING SOUND THAT WILL EVENTUALLY AND SEVERELY DAMAGE THE DRIVERS IN MY SPEAKERS! The left surround speaker being too loud after doing a QuickTune or Advanced Tuning (MANY MANY TIMES) still had this issue with the previous software version and system update. BUT THE TEARING DISTORTION SOUND WHEN CHANGING CHANNELS DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM UNTIL THIS SOFTWARE APP UPDATE AND HARDWARE SYSTEM UPDATE!! EVEN WITHOUT TRUEPLAY TURNED ON (which kills all the midrange and mid-bass), THE LEFT ERA 300 SURROUND SPEAKER IS MUCH MORE AUDIBLE THAN THE RIGHT ERA 300 SURROUND SPEAKER! AND I NEVER HAD ANY. OF. THESE. PROBLEMS. WITH THE ARC (IN THE SYSTEM) — ONLY WITH THE NEW ARC ULTRA which is a shame because the soundbar blends well with the Era 300s, (BUT WHICH ONCE AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN, YOUR SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE UPDATES WERE NOT READY FOR)!!! …..AND I’VE RESET EVERYTHING SONOS, RESET THE CABLE BOX, TRIED CHANGING SETTINGS ON THE TV AND CABLE BOX, AND NOTHING WORKS — IT IS VERY OBVIOUS THAT THIS HAPPENED WITH YOUR PREVIOUS APP’S ARC ULTRA HARDWARE UPDATE + THIS APP’S SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE UPDATES!!! I WANT THIS TRUEPLAY QUICKTUNE PROBLEM FIXED, I WANT THE ABILITY TO ADJUST EACH SPEAKER DISTANCE BACK, I WANT THE ABILITY TO CHANGE THE PHASE OF MY SUB BACK…….AND YOU NEED TO ADD A LEFT/RIGHT CHANNEL BALANCE OPTION IN ADDITION TO THE BASS/TREBLE LEVELS AND LOUDNESS…. ….BUT — YOU NEED TO HAVE A SEPARATE BASS, TREBLE, BALANCE, AND LOUDNESS CONTROL FOR THE ARC ULTRA (soundbar) — AND A SEPEARATE BASS, TREBLE, BALANCE, AND LOUDNESS CONTROL FOR THE ERA 300 (SURROUNDS), IN ADDITION TO SEPARATE VOLUME CONTROL FOR EACH LEFT AND RIGHT SURROUND (SINCE YOU CAN’T SEEM TO GIX YOUR TRUEPLAY/QUICKTUNE WORKING PROPERLY WITH THE ARC ULTRA IN THE SYSTEM)!!! —— AND WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH THE TEARING DISTORTION SOUND WHICH NEVER EVER HAPPENED WITH THE ARC (IN THE SYSTEM) ?!?!?!? I am so upset after spending $1000 on a new soundbar (less 15% upgrade discount + tax was still $902) which In itself sounds better than the Arc, but when combined with my other speakers sounds completely imbalanced and I can’t even change TV channels (Xfinity/Comcast) without it making a loud tearing sound from ALL the speakers which will destroy the drivers!!! PLEASE FIX THIS IMMEDIATELY WITHIN ONE WEEK – BEFORE I PUT MY ARC BACK IN MY SYSTEM AND RETURN THE ARC ULTRA TO YOU DURING MY “45-DAY FROM RECEIPT OF PACKAGE RETURN WINDOW” (purchased between Nov. 21 and Dec. 2) FOR A FULL REFUND UNTIL YOU FIX ALL YOUR BUGS AND START A HUGE REDDIT THREAD AND AV FORUM POSTS WITH AUDIO SAMPLES OF THIS TEARING DISTORTION SOUND FROM CHANGING CHANNELS (WHICH NEVER OCCURRED WITH THE ARC)!! — so now I’ve had to temporarily angle the right surround speaker more towards my ear and the left speaker away from my ear AND THE LEFT IS STILL TOO LOUD (and I can’t move them as they are wall mounted which were a $120/pair kit, PLUS I paid a real professional $950 to wall mount the ERA 300s, lay cable concealers, and wall mount my Sony XR-77A95L QD-OLED 77” $5K TV, and I bought all the parts. I’ve already given $4400 to Sonos and $950 to a professional installer. I don’t deserve this kind of headache, but best be assured it will get posted all over the internet including audio review magazines and YouTube review channels UNLESS THIS IS FIXED WITHIN ONE WEEK FROM TODAY, Tuesday December 10, 2024. That gives you until next Tuesday to repair this (and another month to add the extra features I mentioned that should be there in the first place; especially the options you disabled with TruePlay on)!!!!

Like others this was great a few years ago. Now nothing works. My speakers constantly disconnect from the system, I can’t get more than one working at a time, and now it feels like a big waste of money. Thanks a lot! Maybe spend some money on your dev and QA teams to make sure things done right.

Worst app I have. Sonos is a great product but ever since the update it’s been terrible. I’ve told people to stay away from Sonos because of it.
  • Wow...7 speakers useless.

Your app keeps removing my devices and system.. Forcing me to factory reset multiple times to get them connected. To then get removed again. Just garbage.
  • battery killer

Update2: Crashes on loading ios 18.1.1 --- Update: App no longer kills battery because it crashes while launching. Sonos speaker is now an expensive paperweight. --- New app is killing battery, even with background refresh off. I created a shortcut to remind me to close it. New app didn't connect to music library. After digging on forums it kind of works, but has not refreshed the library so no new music available. Search does not work on music library. Searching previously worked. My speaker suddenly goes to zero volume (not mute). Not sure if this is hardware or software issue. Already had one speaker die so hopefully not another hardware issue. They did give me a coupon to buy a new speaker, so I have that going for me.
  • Still Non-Functional

Months after the initial launch of the broken new app redesign, the Sonos app continues to be basically non-functional. While they’ve gone through and fixed issues like music streaming literally not working or volume control not sending commands, the new app still features speaker calibration that makes speakers sound worse, constantly loses track of individual speakers in the system requiring them to be re-added, loses the entire system requiring you to re-join it, and even causes surround speakers for TV setups to route audio to the wrong channels with no fix available. As someone with a dozen speakers acquired over the course of many years, I cannot recommend strongly enough to avoid Sonos products.
