  • Disappointing Subscription model

    I’ve been using Manta for a while, but I’m really frustrated with the current subscription model. The app offers a subscription, but many of the new stories require diamonds to read—diamonds that you either have to purchase or wait forever to accumulate. So, what's the point of subscribing if you still can’t read the content you want without being hit with extra costs? It feels like they’re just trying to get more money out of you, even if you’re already paying for the subscription. It’s incredibly misleading and frustrating. I would rather just pay for the stories outright rather than be constantly bombarded with ways to spend more money. Until they change this model, I’ll be looking for alternatives.

    Whyyyy are you making me pay for each episode. I pay monthly for unlimited access because when i bought the subscription that was what i was advertised and what i got. For nearly TWO YEARS IT WAS GREAT. They only reason i stayed and kept reading was because i didn't have to spend money for “gems” or “coins” to read one episode. I pay for the subscription let me have unlimited access. If it was gems and no subscription id say sure. Whatever. Im cool with that. The problem is I PAY FOR A SUBSCRIPTION IM NOT GONNA PAY FOR GEMS. Fix this. I’m unhappy with this.

  • Someone must have bought out the original company

    I used to love this app and recommend it to all my friends, but the new gem system has spoiled it. Feels like a money grab because someone bought out the app or something. The new features do not add to experience but degrade it. Now you if I paused on a series I can’t go back and read it without dropping an additional 20 bucks to get a third of the way through the comic. That’s with the subscription I’ve had since I first got the app around Covid time. To top it off there additional obstacles I the way to change or cancel my subscription now. Very disappointed. Can’t wait for a new app with mantas original subscription model.

  • Subscription doesn't get a lot

    They've started doing a lot more "Gem only" stories, and it really doesn't make sense for me to continue paying monthly when it doesn't get access to everything. The price of gem only stories is more than their actual value, so just go back to pirating at this point

    I really do love this app, I’ve been a subscriber for I don’t even know how long now. But ever since gems were introduced it feels like it’s been going downhill from there. I get making gems if you don’t pay for a subscription but why am I paying to read if you’re going to make me pay even more to read what feels like a solid 80% of the comics and basically 98% of the new comics. They’re not cheap either, I wish there was an “upgraded” tier subscription where I wouldn’t be put behind this near $100 pay wall just because I want to read what I’m paying for. Besides that it’s a great app, it’s introduced me to so many great webcomics I never would have found otherwise.

    I’ve had my account since 2021 and have been subscribed ever since. Paid $3.99 well before the price change in 2022, but remained a loyal Manta fan and user because I had access to all the comics. This is the one subscription I never cancelled even if it was my last $4 dollars… until now. I’m just disappointed that this app is now changing into a pay-per-chapter model. I understand that there’s still a lot available being subscribed, but we all know that the more popular stories will require gems. At least give subscribers a monthly amount of gems so it can be worth paying for that subscription. Don’t ruin a good thing you and I have, Manta!

    I have been a long time subscriber of Manta, and really loved it! I loved the subscription based model where I could access everything. Now with the new gems system, they keep introducing more and more stories that subscribers cant read without dishing out even more money. Sure, i can still access everything I was reading before, but they’re putting almost everything new behind a pay-per-chapter wall. It’s so infuriating, and I plan to ditch the subscription soon because i just can’t stand that they’ve turned into every other webcomic app. I really want to support the artists/authors, and I don’t know how much of this is under their control, but I’m not going to buy into this system.

    I pay a monthly subscription fee for Manta but now they are making themselves even more expensive and you for a majority of their new stories you now have to also buy diamonds to read each chapter honestly I’m to the point where I just wanna finish the stories I have and cancel my subscription. They have responded saying it isn’t a scam but they currently have 8 new arrivals listed 4 of which you have to purchase gems for when 50% of your content has to be purchased it’s not unlimited

    I love how Manta has so many comics but almost everything has to be bought with tokens and i dont know how to get them for free
