I am using Lifesum to track my wife’s specific diet and another app to track my own. Compared to the app I’m using, Lifesum is a disappointment. It tracks macro nutrients but not vitamins or minerals. The food database is also not as extensive as the database in my app. I’d tell you which app I’m using but I think that’s prohibited so my advice is to keep looking. WARNING: if you buy the premium plan and decide to cancel, the cancellation needs to be processed through the payment method so don’t pay with PayPal.

I have used this app for years, ever since MyFitnessPal started charging for the barcode reader. I like this app, I like the wellness rating each week, some of the recipes are really great. It’s unfortunately a very buggy and glitchy app. I’ve had some pretty frustrating days logging food and it logs it to another day or info completely goes missing. I decided to write this today because the biggest glitch of all has happened and all my recipes and favorites are all missing. Huge bummer when I make those items often. The app is gorgeous but PLEASE focus on all the glitches.
  • Tracking water intake

I wish there was a way to track actual water intake. It doesn’t take into account that I have different water intake than the glasses or bottles provided to click on. I’d rather be able to input the amount and have it reflect in the images of glasses/bottles. This way I don’t have to go on my notes app to put my intake in and add it up to then still not be accurate but close. Only downside I see to this app.

Not easy or intuitive for adding meals that are not prepackaged. Will not renew subscription.

Great app, but for us biohackers it would be great for app to include how much vitamins/minerals/micronutrients there are and if it’s in line with the daily recommendation (can do it with your happy face emoji you usually use if we hit goal) - that can help us determine whether or not we need to take a multivitamin or a supplement
  • Premium Lifesum is worse than free MFP

The paid version of this app is worse to use than free MyFitnessPal. I started using Lifesum when my fitness program offered a free premium membership. I was tracking meal intake daily and it was ok, basically the same thing as MyFitnessPal EXCEPT this app only works in online mode and is far less functional. At one point they randomly downgraded me to the free version with no explanation, so I also got to see how that was as well. At least the free version of MFP lets you track while offline and do basics things like CHANGE YOUR MACRO GOALS. A very basic thing for one of these apps. Another thing, even with the overpriced premium membership, is that this app has so many different trackers that it takes literally 5 minutes to go and click off of every one because there is not a “reject all trackers option.” After updating they will prompt you again on the trackers and god forbid you accidentally click the green accept all. Also, by default it will change your calorie intake based off of your fitness tracker calorie estimations, which is very unhelpful for bodybuilding. You can turn this off, but it was very confusing and annoying to deal with. I would rather track calories with an excel spreadsheet or on paper than use this app.
  • Entries delete by itself

I like many features on the app, but it’s useless because it glitches so much that it does not track my progress. I’ll put entries in and the next day, my entries disappear from the day prior. Although I contemplated purchasing the premium version, I’m glad I didn’t because I caught the issue of glitches beforehand.
  • Difficult to use

I’m finding the app is difficult to move around in. It’s very confusing and I have to work extra hard to get my meals listed. Having the amounts of food set and not changeable is frustrating. If I eat more or less, I can’t change the amount to to accurately reflect what I’m doing. I’m using the app, I find it helpful, but I haven’t lost any weight yet. I’m new to the app so I plan on waiting a while and continuing to use it to see the results. Andrea
