  • Fails when using airplay

The instructors are a little cheesy, but ultimately fun. The music is current and good. There are many videos. However, when I am casting it to my television from my phone, it always fails halfway through and I have to close the app, and then restart. I am utilizing a free trial and considered purchasing after, but this is inconvenient in the middle of a workout. Its probably not a problem app if your not trying to cast/airplay.

After every update the connections to Apple health where exercises get imported from must be manually setup again. It’s super annoying especially since the push out a new update every week

Has a full catalogue of foods to choose from and allows me to set my macro priorities.
  • Too hard to use

The measurements available for most foods are in no way what a normal person would utilize to measure the food. The scan feature has been removed as basic functionality, which is extremely disappointing. No I will not pay a subscription in this confusing app just to get that feature back. Two thumbs down, very disappointed.

I’ve been using MFP for years and I’m very comfortable with it, however there are new tracking apps that have better features now. People are becoming more aware of the importance of micronutrients and unfortunately MFP nutrient tracking is too basic. Apps like Cronometer and MacroFactor are far superior in this area. I wish MFP would upgrade their nutrient tracking.

I use MFP every few years for a week or so. I study nutrition, teach nutrition to medical students and patients, and really have spent most of work life over the past 25 years thinking and writing about nutrition. I seem to recall a prior version of MFP offered drag/move options for entries in the food diary. But it doesn’t seem to support that anymore. While I appreciate they point out when a food is, for example, high in fiber or protein, it seems to make the diary entries a little visually busy. Makes it harder for me to quickly and easily find Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner etc. There’s just a lot going on. I think the meal and snack headings should be larger font, and the food entries could be justified left with the greater distinction and indents for the “this food is high in fiber”. I also wish there was a way to remove the focus on calories and body weight. I’ve tried to figure it out but cannot make it go away. I can’t imagine folks with disordered eating tendencies or risks benefit from not being able to hide/customize the weight and calories display for each day, eg, when I complete the diary for the day it instantly tells me how much weight I’d gain or lose if I ate like that every day. This is also silly bc I don’t even have a goal to change my weight. I only want to maintain. Their bar code reader and meal scanner seems to work pretty well and makes entries faster/easier.

Very simple to you so far. I’ve only been using it for a week, but it’s pretty user-friendly. There’s a slight learning curve, but it’s not too bad at all. I’m still trying to figure out when I make a meal like sautéed onions, garlic, and ground beef and put in some chopped vegetables. I’m not sure how to get that to generate data in serving sizes.
