I used to be able to see more without having to pay monthly. It's seems the more ancestry makes , the more they charge
  • Very Misleading Pricing

I signed up for the free week trial period. Forgot to cancel before the charge date—no problem. That’s on me. I went to cancel going forward and a $25 cancellation fee was charged to me. They sign you up for a 6 month plan but the fee comes out monthly. The refused to take the charge off. Idk just felt a little icky to me.

I’m a longtime user of Ancestry and have a premium subscription. I’m getting to the point where I’m considering alternatives to Ancestry because the app crashes almost constantly, or I get error messages when trying to accept a hint or update a profile. The website is better but lately is also frequently lagging, coming back with error messages “this feature isn’t available right now”. For what it costs (it’s several times more expensive than anything else), I feel like this should be rare. The task of migrating everything is not for the faint of heart, tho…ANCESTRY, PLEASE FIX THE APP.

I used to be able to see people who are matches and now it wants me to pay for everything including to be able to see who are other matches on my paternal side. I can’t see anything except what I have added.

I have been using ancestry for many years now. By the time I became interested in research, and had the time? Sadly my parents, grandparents and most of my parent’s siblings were no longer living. A family Bible, and a family tree existed, but were never shared, on one side. Over the years ancestry has improved and is a joy to use. As with anything, you learn by trial and error. I have my dad’s side back to before the year 1,000, they were in England. I love history and details, so it is perfect. You can start a tree for free. It is the wonderful research capabilities that you pay for. If you have your settings set to public, you will eventually be able to connect with cousins and others. Please prove your work with census, birth, death, marriage, military and other records. And be careful about using info from other people’s family trees. Use only those with records proving their info. If you want an accurate tree. I have a huge tree on my dad’s side, with thousands of people. My mom’s side has been a bit more more challenging. I use the international version. I have reconnected with cousins I met as a baby, an uncle and many others. I hope that you try it, utilize it fully, and enjoy your journey.
