  • Was great until subscription change

This was a great app for listening to books but they changed their subscription model to have premium titles which cost more. Not to mention the co stand crashing and issue with media playing. This I was able to overlook but the recent change makes this annoyance less tolerable. The benefit of this app over others was the variety of titles included in a subscription. There are better and cheaper apps available
  • Buffering

The buffering situation is ridiculous. Often have to re-boot my device several times a day, especially when changing locations
  • Changes Are Awful

The changes to the subscription model is awful. I had a legacy plan that allowed access to almost everything I like to read and listen to. I changed to a current plan so that I could access a specific audiobook and now nothing in my queue is accessible without a monthly credit for each item. Not even close to worth the cost.
  • Meh.

This app originally touted unlimited books for a monthly price. I can understand needing to change the model, but it’s become quite limited and their model is extremely inscrutable. Especially for the price. I’ve scoured their information and still don’t understand. Constant glitches: repeating words, unable to play, starting over or going directly to the end while in the middle of the book. Serious downgrade from original model. Overall, would not recommended.
  • Changed for worse

I’ve been subscribing for a while now but about to cancel. Increased the price and now limit the amount of decent books you can get to. Three a month unless you want to read trash and unknown authors. Really bad mistake on companies part. The app was glitchy enough to be annoying but could deal with it for the amount you could read. Not worth it now.
  • You are not audible. Terrible app

So the app decided to make a change to go to a system like audible. But in doing that alllllll of the books that were free now require coins. I do not mean new books, all of the old books. Same books they are requiring coins for are the same books offered free in audible. I cannot believe they went this route. The app forced you to switch over to the new plan blocking out all books you want to listen to. I had 20 books in my queue. All require coins. I’ve been a dedicated fan of the app for years. I wish they just raised the price over doing this. The app force closes and resets the book a lot. It does have any end of the year stats.
  • Used to be amazing

Sadly I went to take some months off to save money because I wasn’t reading much, but then went to subscribe again not long after because there was a particular book I wanted to read that was on Everand. Everand used to be amazing and so worth the money. Now it’s not. They switched their plans so now you only get really 1 title a month or 3 if you upgrade. From what I’m seeing, now like 99% of the good book options are “locked” behind a pay wall so it’s basically audible where you only get one title per month. So upsetting when you used to get to read so many audiobooks & ebooks with this service and now it’s extremely limited. I immediately unsubscribed again now that I know how they’re doing things lately and plan to never subscribe again unless they go back to how they were. It’s cheaper for me to just buy the kindle books via Amazon instead of subscribe to this for just one book. I guess if you’re going to subscribe, do the 3 per month upgrade and really look to make sure you’re choosing books that would equal more than that upgraded subscription price to get your moneys worth. I just don’t like yet another reading service that is limiting your amount you can read. Such a shame!
  • No longer unlimited

The biggest selling point was the unlimited audio and digital books. Now you’re limited to 3.
  • Old way was better!

I would have been ok with paying $12-15 for the old format. This new one is not worth it. I’ll just stick with kindle unlimited and the library.

This app may claim the changes are to be more transparent, but the reality is that they traded what made them different for money. They charge more now to give us access to less. A LOT less. Also, despite paying for the increased plan, I have not received the unlocks for this month. A ticket has been created, so maybe they will make it right. I also keep hoping the universal dislike of the new model will cause them to reconsider, but it’s getting much harder to justify the expense for the content.
