  • New to guitar - old to life

I recently lost my wife and of her prized possessions was her 60-year old acoustic guitar. As I strummed it, I felt as though she was sitting my lap. Justin’s lessons have done nothing but add to that pleasure. I can even play a few of the songs from her personal song book. Thank you - from a sentimental old man.
  • DO NOT use the tuner.

I’m so completely disappointed in this app it’s not even funny. The tuner is completely off. If you tune something exactly how the app tells you, then recheck it, it’ll say it’s completely wrong. That’s not the issue. The issue is, I tuned my guitar exactly how the app said to do so, rechecked, and the bridge of my guitar BROKE. After hours of trying to fix it, removing the strings, fixing the screws & bolts attached to the bridge, removing the bridge, melting glue off, taking off pieces of flushed wood, screwing everything back together, putting all the strings back on, using wood glue on the bridge to fasten it back in place, tuning my guitar again, only for it to sound like broken noise. My guitar is completely beyond repair. I now have to get a new one. Thank you Justin Guitar for this incredible experience. 😐
  • My take after the first lesson

Well, so far… I completed the first 6 lessons. A few I skipped like tuning my guitar and learning things I already knew such as what a Fret is, the neck, etc. I learned how to play my first blues riff!!! And I’ll tell ya it’s fun and I easy, easy because it’s made fun lol. My five star review might change as I progress, only time will tell.

Dear Justin I have never played an instrument before, but I bought a guitar (at age 77) and started out to learn. I wanted lessons with schedule flexibility, a continuous, easy to follow system to learn playing guitar from the basics to advanced. Justinguitar has provided me with a sound framework to build on. In less than a year I am able to play 80 popular songs within the program! Thanks so much and I look forward to continuing your instruction, Andy S.
  • Fun to use and keeps me motivated

This app is super easy and fun to use. The Justin Guitar lessons are right there, just like the website. What I like over the website is that it tracks your 1 minute chord changes, so you don’t have to count while you’re doing it. And the play along songs are so great. I’m having a blast learning to play things I wouldn’t have it I was just doing it by myself. I keeps me from getting bored while I’m learning, because I don’t know a lot yet and didn’t know what to do with what I do know. The only complaint I have it completed lessons will randomly show as not completed. I’m a bit ocd and need things right so it makes me nuts til I go back through the things and redo them. And that’s a hassle. Anyone else might not mind.

I decided to go with 4 stars for now because I’m just beginning to use the app. I’ve only used the one minute chord changes so far and am not sure how the initial change count is generated. I goofed-up my second exercise by not editing the change count before hitting complete. I’ve been working through Grade 1 on the website and love it. I’ll get better with the app the more I use it.

The Justin Guitar app is an outstanding app for folks like me who pick up learning how to play guitar in their late 60s! It’s easy to use, has lots of great training drills and an outstanding collection of songs!

I’m older and always wanted to learn how to play. I set a goal to be able to play a song at my son’s wedding next year and thought it was a far reach… not any more. I already have three I can play comfortably and I haven’t even been doing this very long! If I can do this, I know anyone who wants to learn can!
