  • Horrendous onboarding

The app is painfully annoying upon first experience. You have to rank X amount of restaurants to be able to see recommendations, have to invite someone, have to call the pope and ask for their blessing, have to climb up mt Kilimanjaro. I JUST WANT TO SEE REST RECS JEEZ.

  • Aggressive invite spam demands are an instant turnoff

The way this app tries to aggressively coerce you into inviting all of your friends to an app you haven’t even gotten to use yet is a 2011-era dark pattern that I thought we had moved on from. I see that the app has high ratings, but I refuse to spam my friends with invites for apps I can’t personally vouch for.

  • Features locked behind inviting

The app has core features (like seeing the average score of a restaurant) locked behind successfully getting other people on the app. They also want access to your entire contact list, which is just harvesting yours and others data for advertising and making themselves more money.

  • Wonderful app, remove referral unlocks please

As someone who was invited after all my friends already joined, I have no one to refer to the app and therefore cannot unlock half the features. Otherwise I absolutely love it.

love this app and the option to look at your previous reviews of places when ranking a new spot in comparison. can you also install this tool for when you’re reordering your list? sometimes my restaurants are in chinese and i struggle to remember which ones they are! it would make it so much easier if i could just press on it to briefly see my review of the place when i’m reordering my lists. thanks beli!!

  • Photo upload glitch

Whenever I try to upload a photo the app freezes

  • Fun to post on

My friends and I have been loving posting about everywhere we eat on this app. My only real complaint is that you should be able to add different notes for a new visit to a restaurant that you’ve already been to. Sometimes you have different things to say! It’s also objectively hard to rate a large number of restaurants against each other; some kind of category system would be nice

  • Everything locked behind referrals

This app is extremely frustrating. Every single feature is locked behind referrals like it’s a pyramid scheme.

  • Really?

Genuinely the most annoying app to use. You need to invite friends to access features? No thanks deleted my account immediately. I’ll stick to Yelp
