  • Great recipes, frustrating app

    By IndieMpls
Love Epicurious. I’ve used it for years. The app is glitchy and unreliable sometimes making it a frustrating experience. NYT app is very good in comparison.
  • So glitchy.

    By ohokak
This app doesn’t even open most of the time. It won’t load. It’s had updates, but they aren’t fixing the root problem that the app itself is not functional. It won’t open! I love Epicurious recipes but I end up just searching for them online.
  • My go to cooking app

    By AllieRocks!
This is the only recipe app I use. Love being able to search, save recipes, and see what’s in season or new on the home page.
  • Good content but app is really clunky

    By Oboegirl5
I am only using the app and subscribe because of the receipes I saved thru the years. The app is very difficult to use although I am seeing some improvements lately. Please spend a little more money and manpower to make the app work. It is unbelievable in this day and age, a subscription based app is difficult to open, shuts down inexplicably, and until recently didn’t have search function for save recipes. Website seems ok but for my money, not enough is done to make the app user friendly.
  • Won’t open, no folders, no notes

    By WouldRatherBeCooking
Get ready to spend a lot of time restarting your phone and tablet just to look up a recipe. I have updated, restarted, reloaded, reinstalled. Same thing. It will work once or twice. Then goes right back to the spinning wheel. Then, if you ever do get it to open, you can’t save recipes into folders or make private notes.
  • Free App is now Pay-Walled

    By jordonjackson
No longer can one use this app nor even expand any of the recipes. They’ve put everything behind a pay wall. Goodbye.
  • Slow to load recipes

    By Very sad 1234
Even though Epicurious has switched to paid subscriptions and I am a subscriber, the site and the app are slower to load than before. This is quite annoying. By contrast NYT Cooking Is an example of a good app, easy to use, loads quickly, decent recipe search, and doesn’t sleep while you have the recipe open on your screen. The daily Cook This Now recipe newsletter seems to be generated by algorithm with little editorial oversight. Who needs “50 ways to braise chicken?” Give me the “10 best chicken braise dishes for [fill in the occasion]” instead.
  • Recipes are great; App is terrible

    By Abbieha
Since Epicurious was purchased by Conde Nast, things have gone downhill. Besides moving from a free website to a subscription based platform, the app itself has stopped working well. The majority of times when I try to open the Epicurious App, it grinds and grinds, the little white dot over the “i” bouncing up and down, up and down, up and down, on and on…until I finally give up, and just google whatever recipe I was searching for. I have mentioned this in a survey but never got any response nor saw any improvement in performance. It’s so frustrating to pay for a defective product. Epicurious was a fantastic experiment that, once it took off and was sold, has lost its shine. (Yes, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app—didn’t help, and I tried going to the website in a browser, but that redirects me to the app…a vicious circle!) So disappointing.
  • Free Trial? I think not!

    By LaRojaLoca
I decided to sign up with a free trial, and selected the annual membership if I liked the app. After selecting everything, I was immediately charged $4.99, which is their monthly price. There was no free trial and there was no annual membership. Bait and switch.
  • subscription to use??

    By GamingGirl😄
apps need to put it in the bio that you need a subscription to use. not a single free recipe, just look it up online im not about to pay just to make some salmon.
