  • Worst app I’ve ever used on the Apple TV

    I hate this app. I hate this app so much. Why? Because for some stupid reason it can’t seem to handle something as basic as keeping me signed in to my account. Literally yesterday it made me sign in to my account, and then today it made me do it again. It’s unbelievably aggravating, as it’s the most basic thing an app should be able to do. On top of that, there’s 5 different providers/subscriptions that you need to be signed in to in order to get access to certain games (paramount, prime, etc.) and this stupid app can’t bother to keep me signed in to those either! So every couple of days, I have to once again sign in to 5 different subscriptions. My Apple TV is the most recent model, I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app, but it doesn’t matter, this app will make you sign in to your various accounts over and over and over again. Ridiculous!

    Just using it for scores/news it isn’t bad, but the app doesn’t respond to your settings. I just wanted updates from my team, have unchecked EVERYTHING except my teams alerts, but I still get notifications constantly I don’t want and didn’t ask for. Frustrating.

    This app sucks keeps signing me out and telling me to subscribe which I have then stops the game and asks me to keep signing in. Super annoying

  • Why do I need a tv provider?

    I got this app specifically so I would t need to pay for a tv provider. On the phone, I don’t need one. However when I watch it on a “smart” tv, I do. Can’t watch games on my tv because I need to pay for this and that, but damn it that’s what this app advertises and why I got it.

  • Second year in a row this app doesn’t work

    I have subscribed to NFL + premium, and for the second year in a row, this app didn’t function. During week 1, the app wouldn’t stream my NFL Sunday Ticket games, even though my account is linked. Redzone didn’t work for the first game window, but then did for the second game window. Now this week, my logged in TV provider game won’t stream, but Sunday Ticket and Red Zone are working just fine. This is pathetic. I did all the trouble shooting, and same garbage happened last season, and the app didn’t work properly until several weeks into the season. Now we’re into week two with the same trash this season. And NFL customer service is so overwhelmed with other problems and complaints that they can’t respond in real time and have to email customers later. I think all NFL + premium subscribers deserve a refund. If you have to delete and reinstall the app constantly, the app doesn’t work. Also, if I can’t watch all my games in one place, like advertised, when I pay for it, then I deserve my money back. This isn’t a one off issue. This is a systemic failure of the app. Week 3 update: everything is now working—except local market broadcast game on Fox not streaming through provider, even though I’m logged in through my provider. Still a pathetic excuse for an app. Also, still no response from NFL customer service or tech support. I deserve a partial refund at this point at the very least. It shouldn’t take 3 weeks to get 90% of the app functioning. It should have been 100% functional week 1. Update: after 4 weeks, everything works fine—except for Fox local games still not streaming. Still no actual technical support from NFL customer service. I did get an email asking for me to reply about a week ago—they gave me a whole 15 minutes to respond, and closed the case before I could email back. I then received another email this morning, over a week later. We’ll see what happens.

    Update 10/5/26: This app is somehow just as bad still if not worse this season. On the iPad app, the stream just crashes for no reason if you do anything so much as literally touch the device you’re watching on. You can’t do anything like adjust your brightness or the whole stream will quit on you. Besides that, the app is clunky, slow as heck, and downright embarrassing. The google tv app is absolutely unreal. Smart tv’s are classicly awful but ours is actually really good as it’s a nice tv. Not when running the NFL app. The nfl app completely tanks the software and uses up an absolute insane amount of CPU and makes it nearly unusable. Update: This app continues to disappoint me. The window navigation and hyperlinking causes articles to completely disappear if you click onto an in-app internal link. The cache does not save your recent activity, so the back button just takes you to the home page. Original review: This app isn’t just bad on iOS. It’s horrible everywhere. Even the web app is pitiful. Every platform version of this app needs a total overhaul. Crashes and glitches everywhere. So unfortunate that I have to use it to watch my team sometimes.

    Genuinely one of the worst apps ever, I like it because I can watch prime-time games and don’t have to buy a billion subscriptions which is a separate issue. However, the app is slow, it bugs out 90% of the time. Ill be watching a game and it’ll turn off and tell me to buy NFL+ which I obviously have. It’s been like this for 3 years in a row as well. It’s not an IOS issue because the same issue happens on Android. Spending 100 dollars on an app that doesn’t work most of the time, great stuff goodell. 300 billion dollar company btw. The nfl app is like madden, cool concept but the devs are 3 monkeys trying their hardest but they can’t read. Genuinely just embarrassing stuff.
