It’s a really good app I am almost fluent in Spanish but it vibrates my phone really loud and I do my lessons really late so Pleese remove all giant vibrating things and when you do you get a extra star

Duolingo is a great learning process. I am learning Spanish, and can now order at a restaurant after just a month of learning!if you want learn a language or study I think this would be great for you. But the super Duolingo you have to pay for but you do get a 1 week free trial and can cancel if you want to!

This is a great app for people who are trying to learn new languages. It is a great way to get started with learning languages and getting better. This app also has topics other than languages. It also has music, math, and chess. The streak and league features help me stay motivated and it is really fun.
  • Doulingo’s battery.

Okay, I absolutely love Duolingo but its new little battery thing has ruined it for me. I used to spend a lot of time on it but now I can’t due to the battery. It lasts less than 5 minutes and is quite irritating. Plus for someone who doesn’t do online purchases unless 100% necessary, this really sucks!!!
  • Awful update. Unusable. Money hungry.

Can barely use the app for a decent amount of time after the update. They took away hearts and replaced them with energy points that you lose after every question. Plus, after every single lesson, there is an ad nagging you to buy Duo premium. I guess providing a quality service to customers is just not important to Duolingo anymore. Money hungry. The constant nagging of users spend money is ridiculous. Taking my business and time elsewhere. I do not recommend duo anymore. It used to be great. It is a shame

I remember doing this in high school for a language class, and it was fine, thought maybe picking it up later would be a good life skill, but it’s basically just become a paywall for everything in app now. You can’t do anything without the in app currency, which, of course, takes forever to attain, and everything is EXTREMELY expensive, and you can only use gems to buy things, now like extra practice or to participate in “challenges” or whatever. You get maybe 15 gems every 6 lessons, so the fact that you need 80 to do a challenge is outrageous Not to mention they are pushing this “Duolingo Max” or whatever every single given opportunity. Every time you finish a lesson. Every time you open the app. 10 second unskippable Duolingo max Ad. But wait! What about the actual content? Is that any good? Yes and no. I have actually picked up a little of the language I set out to learn, but it’s the most painstaking process ever. Before your streak hits 100, cute little 10 question lessons and games really do help, and while you may make a mistake occasionally, it’s very forgiving, helping you correct the mistake rather than redoing the question. HOWEVER, as soon as you hit the 150ish mark, 15-20 question quizzes. Very long sentences, like upwards of 20 words, which will actually be trick questions at times. The English question will say “at the library”, so you translate it verbatim and it makes sense, but Duo will say no, you were supposed to say “in the library” in the translation. But that’s a completely different context for the question. To put this in context I’ve had a native language speaker attempt to answer those questions and he also failed. Half the questions are like this, you only get 5 mistakes in like a 24 hour period, so if you miss 5 on a bad day, boom, cough up 600 gems playa! (This is literally the price) Either that or lose your streak. No help after the honeymoon phase, support is useless and never responds, and the app flat out turns against you in lazy question writing and exploitative practices by holding the one accomplishment you have in said app over your head (your streak). All in all, this app is good to maybe interest a child and get them hooked so you can teach them formally after a bit, but not for longer learning or any real fluency in any language, and after a while it will only lead to frustration. Update: Almost 900 streak now, because they actually did change it to “energy”, so basically you can do one lesson every day without paying, except now half the time the progress won’t register for the purposes of streaks, but it’ll still take all your energy! 60 gems to refill, and you better be paying attention, cause otherwise it’s like 400 gems for a streak freeze. With the AI integration I’m getting weirder and weirder sentences too, like improper English and triple negatives. Feels like I’m learning a language from a hillbilly. Still not paying for premium. Still have not seen anything that would convince me it’s worth it.
  • Disdain for paying customers

I have been a paying customer for a long time. I always decline the max offers. Recently they stopped offering and just started force changing my level against my will. I don't want to pay for max and I don't like the experience. They could just let me be a reliable paying customer and leave me happy, but they gotta mass around. Hate it.
