Description

Researchers at Monash University have developed the low FODMAP diet and a corresponding app to assist in the management of gastrointestinal symptoms associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The Monash University FODMAP diet works by swapping foods high in fermentable carbohydrates (FODMAPs), with low FODMAP alternatives. Around 75% of people with IBS experience symptom relief on a low FODMAP diet. The app comes directly from the research team at Monash and includes the following: - General information about the FODMAP diet and IBS. - Easy to understand tutorials to guide you through the app and the 3-Step FODMAP diet. - A Food Guide detailing the FODMAP content for hundreds of foods using a simple 'traffic light system'. - A list of branded products that have been certified by Monash as low FODMAP. - A collection of over 70 nutritious, low FODMAP recipes. - Functions that allow you to create your own shopping list and add notes to individual foods - A Diary that enables you to record food eaten, IBS symptoms, bowel habits and stress levels. The Diary will also guide you through step 2 of the diet - FODMAP reintroduction. - The ability to adjust units of measurement (metric or imperial) and activate colour blindness assistance.

This app genuinely saved me so much pain and discomfort when I was struggling with intense stomach issues. I would buy this app a million times over. Thank you!

Should change from stop light to percentages/concentration of fodmaps.
  • Confusing app without clear ways to use it

Hi. I just modified my review to 3 stars from 1. I’ve gotten to know the app a bit better ( still think it’s a bit confusing for a newbie), and am finding that the daily log is my favorite feature in that I can keep a clear record of food intake “outgo”🤭and symptoms in between as they do or do not arise. i have also download ed and made several of the recipes, and though they’re laid out in terms of weight, it’s easy enough to translate into cups. I still feel it’s a bit too heavily weighted with hints to use the food prep service “Modify Health” which would be great, but not everyone can afford such. I would love to see a couple weeks of sample meal plans and maybe another dozen or so more recipes on the app, a few more for each type of meal listed. Basically I need to look on lists to see if various this and that's are green, yellow or red lit? I had thought with a paid app, that I would be getting listed out meal plans to follow, in addition to the red, yellow, green light system.
  • Only for the highly motivated, data nerds willing to put in effort

While this app is extremely useful at looking up individual foods, it is very much less useful for meal planning unless you are willing to expend considerable time and effort figuring out the total fodmap rating for a meal yourself. I ended up utilizing a (privacy-protecting) AI program to plan low fodmap meals instead. (Beware of AI's privacy invasion.) Maybe don't waste your money?
  • Can’t sort by country

Just bought the app and it can’t even properly sort products by filtering for products in your own country. Very frustrated and wish I wouldn’t have bought this
  • They change the privacy policy after you pay/sign up

They changed the privacy policy for US and it’s not very functional/applicable for US. I do not recommend. Very disappointing
  • Waste of $. Refund please.

I wish they’d offer a free trial first so I could see that this is not a terribly user friendly app. Common words don’t come up by typing a few letters and you have to type the entire thing or it’s showing you random items unrelated to what you’re searching. I’d love a refund. I won’t be using this.

The app is just the extended version of the web site with searchable feature on a limited tested food. The challenge is still thousand of other products out there that i will have to second guess or through trial and error. Pricing is not great based on provided contents. The gluten free app was cheaper with better functionality and community base evaluation on eating out choices. The university staff needs to hurry up with the upgrade; unless this is only an attempt to recover the research costs. Not a problem there, but i think i would have to find the not so official tool to manage my condition.

It’s better to just get a diary booklet and fill it out yourself. This does not help me one bit.

Charged me without my consent. Did not even put my credit card info in but it still charged me $8.49. Maybe it was in a germs and conditions but when I checked the app to cancel that I could not find a subscription area. Not even that helpful with recipes either.
