Reviews

  • Info is out of date.

A lot of the reviews here seem to be out of date. Just as an example the number one rated laundry detergent is Tide Ultra Stain Release. However, after not being able to find it at my store, I contacted the manufacturer who told me it hasn’t been made for over two years.
  • Resets to Home Screen and poor search

The info is good and the UI is easy to use. However, if you click away from the app for too long, it resets to the Home Screen with no easy click back to where you were. Also the search is terrible. Search “dishwasher” and it pulls up the “dishwasher detergent” category then a bunch of individual dishwashers. The “dishwashers” category doesn’t come up - pesky plural.
  • App not functioning on my iPhone. Will only search with camera and won’t process the picture

Something is terribly wrong with this app. Can’t search or navigate. Can’t even use the AI feature. You need to test before launching revisions
  • Less Content Than Website

Why does the Consumer Reports iPhone app not contain all of the daily news articles that are emailed to me? Seems like the app only contains a small portion of the content available on the website.
  • When it works

When the app works it is great and I have used it for years. Just went to open it and use it and if locks on the green launch screen. Yes, I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Based on reviews many people have this issue and it has been going on long enough for you all to have fixed it by now.

I just downloaded this app.to check on electric skillets and I had to chat with AI. It told me they never tested electric skillets. REALLY??? That’s all I wanted to know about at this time. Forget this app.

After the latest update, the app no longer works, all I get is an error message “IAP initConnection returned false”. Tried emailing, but all I received was a generic response that didn’t help.

I paid money for this app and it does not list most of the items I need info on. Please don't waste your money on this scam of an app!!!!
  • Hasn’t worked in months

I’ve been paying for consumer reports for about a decade. I don’t use it all the time. It’s clutch when shopping for appliances or a used car. Now my dad needs hearing aids and his buddy spent $3k on some and they don’t even work, so naturally I go to open the CR app and “something went wrong” atop a white screen is all I get. This has been the case for months. Never seen an app fail like this for this long. I’m starting to wonder if Consumer Reports is failing as an organization. Might be just another case of greedy c suite management bleeding the organization dry.
  • The website works but not the app

No matter how many times I load and delete the app it tells me that my password is wrong even though the website accepts the password. The app simply does not work.
