The free tier is misleading, and you don’t find out until after you’ve already signed up, set up everything in the app, and the free trial runs out. The free tier is supposedly “free for up to 10 employees”, and they advertise “basic time tracking” as included in the free tier. They make it look like the app is part of the free tier, but it’s really not, at least not in any meaningful way. It even says above that you can use the time clock from any phone or tablet. HOWEVER, the time clock is NOT available in the app on the free tier. It is only available on the web or tablet, which doesn’t work for my setup. I literally only have ONE employee and need the app to allow this employee to clock in and out, that’s it! And the free tier won’t even let me do that. Very misleading advertising about the free tier. I would be willing to pay a one time fee for use of the app, but I’m not paying $30 each month for basic clock in/out service.

We use this for about 45-65 employees depending on peak season. I really wish the phone/app version would show how many hours people are scheduled for the week. When I am trying to approve trades, covers, etc. I have to either wait till I’m at work or at home (with access to a computer) to process requests. Even if they put in the request section something similar to “Sally is scheduled 28 hours accepting this trade will put her at 32” would help. I also wish if you clicked on an employees name it brought you to a dashboard that has their schedule for the week, all of their time off requests, and availability. Otherwise, homebase makes schedule writing pretty easy with the freedom to add different role titles and create your own schedule templates that you can just apply to each week. It’s easy to just click and drag the shifts to people. While making a new schedule it clearly shows days that are requested off, times unavailable, and even preferred times.
