Great service for good recipes but the new format of shoddy tik-tock style videos as a default rather than professional photos is not appetizing. I understand this is trivial but it really makes me avoid using the app. Not a good change.
  • Recipe of the day

Been a vegetarian for 15 years and I still get meaty recipes of the day at least half of the time. How easy would it be to set dietary preferences in the settings and never have to get recommended a recipe I’ll never look at again? There are so many good recipes to choose from, it’s not like it would be hard. Surprised by this oversight daily…

What happened to a Recipe of the Day with the new design?

Comment sections are always full of curated and helpful comments. I also really enjoy the increase in "recipe in action" videos. Seeing even just 20 seconds of video helps me visualize and plan a recipe prior to cooking it, SO HELPFUL! I've used this NYT cooking for decades now, and it is just getting better over time.

    Fantastic, tasty and easy
  • Broken Sync, Working Ads

Want to sync your grocery list between the web (for planning), your phone (for shopping), and your tablet (for cooking)? Too bad! Sync works about 30% of the time. The ads, tracking requests, and auto-play videos work 100% of the time, of course. Turning into Epicurious.

Listed down in the details, not right up front. Would not have bothered downloading if that was mentioned subscription is standalone from any other NYT products.
  • Please Stop the Videos

I used to check the app everyday for the Recipe of the Day. If interested, I read more about it and perhaps saved it. The new video feature has ruined the whole experience. I’m not a fan and hope you reconsider or at least go back to the written Recipe of the Day and allow a setting to turn off the auto run videos
  • Video autoplay stinks!

Please stop the autoplay of videos or give us the option to turn it off in settings! The app used to be so relaxing to scroll through idly— unlike so many social media apps. I love the recipes and the authors, and yes, the videos— but I want to decide when to watch, please. I’ve nearly stopped using the app and go to NYT Cooking through my browser now.

We love everyone on the staff but in my hiking group we often discuss “Melissa’s” latest recipe while on the trail in Santa Fe. And I’ve watched Sohla’s egg videos more than once. All so reliably good.
